As part of the weekend event at the Andover WA 1440 hosted by Andover Archers and held at their Foxcotte Lane ground a friendly County competition was held on Saturday 29 July between the Senior teams of Dorset & Wiltshire Archery Association and Hampshire Archery Association.
Whilst the weekend was marred by the weather with high consistent wind all day on Saturday’s friendly event – and worse weather on the Sunday teams of 4 Recurve and 4 Compound were formed by both Counties by selecting the best scoring archers in each discipline. The match resulted in a win for Hampshire by a score of 9683 to 9004.
A thank you to all in the Dorset & Wilts County team; Amanda Berrill, Dave Reynolds, Janice Reynolds, John Prior, Kathryn Slip, Pauline Burfitt, Rachel Vines and Richard Kerr. Despite the weather, there was high scoring with Pauline missing out on first place by only 9 points and Richard Kerr also missing out on first place by only 6 points.
Well done to all archers for competing under extremely difficult conditions and congratulations to the winning archers of the Hampshire team managed by Nick Loader. A thank you also to the hosts.
